Several parties have recently been banned in Moldova, and parties have been banned in Ukraine and Germany, non-political organizations can also be banned – Papuashvili

We see that there are parties that are being used to harm Georgia and organize an undemocratic change of government. Such a statement made today Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, while talking about the possible banning of parties.

“The logic of the lawsuit is that we see that there are parties that are being used to harm Georgia, organize an undemocratic change of government, we saw war propaganda, attempts to violate our territorial integrity, etc. Issues that are spelled out in the Constitution, in which cases a party can be banned and declared unconstitutional.

Our main targets are those organizations, associations, political parties that are the main driving force behind anti-Georgian and anti-constitutional actions. This is a common practice in any country - for example, several parties were recently banned in Moldova, before that, in Ukraine, Germany, it is possible to ban parties, including non-political organizations”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.

As it known, in the near future, at the initiative of the ruling party, the Parliament will send a document to the Constitutional Court, which will contain a request to ban parties that have been exposed for anti-state and anti-constitutional actions.
