The agency`s supervisory powers are an important innovation related to the monitoring and inspection of the enforcement of passenger rights regulations – Head of the Railway Transport Agency

The Railway Transport Agency has been granted a mandate to utilize appropriate supervisory mechanisms for the purpose of protecting passenger rights; the agency also provides consultations to passengers and reviews their complaints. Such a statement made today Erekle Kezherashvili, Director of the Railway Transport Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.

As he noted, the agency`s supervisory powers are an important innovation related to the monitoring and inspection of the enforcement of passenger rights regulations.

"In the event that the railway`s decision is not satisfactory for the passengers, or if they are not provided with an appropriate justification within the established timeframes, they have the right to appeal to the Railway Transport Agency. The agency will review passenger complaints. If a violation is established, the agency is authorized to determine mandatory corrective measures, and also, if the violation is minor, to issue recommendations and apply the administrative liability measures granted to it", - said Erekle Kezherashvili.

By order of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the "Rules for the Protection of Railway Passenger Rights" have been approved.

This regulation will contribute to the establishment of a unified, effective, and transparent system for protecting passenger rights in the field of railway transport, as well as raising the quality of service and reliability.
