The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged 135 individuals, including foreign citizens, with the illegal acquisition, storage, sale, and facilitation of sale of large and especially large amounts of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as the illegal acquisition and storage of firearms and ammunition.

The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that the defendants illegally purchased and stored various types and quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, including large and especially large quantities, which they valued and placed in various locations. Some of the defendants were involved in the sale of narcotic drugs.

As a result of the measures taken, law enforcement officers seized narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances “heroin”, “cocaine”, “methadone”, “buprenorphine”, “dried marijuana”, “herbal cannabis”, “pregabalin”, “MDMA”, and items necessary for packaging narcotic drugs. Illegally acquired firearms and ammunition were also seized.

The detainees are charged under Article 260, Part 1, Subparagraphs 2, 3, and 2 of the Criminal Code (illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in large and especially large quantities), Article 260, Part 5, Subparagraph 5, and 2 of the Criminal Code (illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large quantities), Article 260, Part 5, Subparagraph 5, and 2 of the Criminal Code (illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large and especially large quantities), Article 260, Part 5, Subparagraph 5, and 2 of the Criminal Code (illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large and especially large quantities), Article 262, Part 4, Subparagraph 5, and 2 of the Criminal Code (illegal import of narcotic drugs into Georgia in especially large quantities), Article 260, Part 1, and 2 of the Criminal Code (illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large and especially large quantities), Article 260, Part 4, Subparagraph 5, and 2 of the Criminal Code (illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large and especially large quantities), Article 262, Part 4, Subparagraph 5, and 2 of the Criminal Code (illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large and especially large quantities), Article 260, Part 1 (illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large quantities), Article 260, Part 1 (illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large quantities), Article 260, Part 22 (illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large quantities), Article 260, Part 2 (illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large quantities), Article 260, Part 1 (illegal sale of narcotic drugs in large quantities), Article 260, Part 2 (illegal sale promotion of sale) and Article 260 tertsia, part one (illegal sale of marijuana), Article 261, part 2, subparagraph “a”, part 3, subparagraph “a” (illegal purchase and storage of a large and especially large amount of a psychotropic substance or its analogue), Article 265 prima, part three, subparagraph “a” (illegal sowing, growing or cultivating a plant containing narcotic drugs), Article 236, part 3 (purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition), which provides for a term of up to 20 years or life imprisonment as the form and extent of punishment.

Based on the prosecutor’s office’s motion, some of the defendants have already been sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure, while the court will try the rest within the time limit established by law.
