A conference titled "Inclusive Education at the Preschool and General Education Levels - Achievements, Challenges, and Future Perspectives" was held at the Parliament, organized by the `Interim Commission on Women and Children.

Speakers addressing the importance of inclusive education and welcoming conference participants included the Vice-Speaker of Parliament, Nino Tsilosani, Chair of the Commission Mariam Lashkhi, Commission member, conference initiator and moderator Rima Beradze, and Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee Zaza Lominadze.

"Our shared task is to ensure that every child in Georgia has equal access to quality—and most importantly—inclusive education. This is a responsibility that unites Parliament, the executive branch, local self-governments, and every individual who cares about the country`s future", - said Nino Tsilosani.

According to Mariam Lashkhi, the formation of a healthy educational and cultural environment in general education institutions begins with the involvement and responsibility of parents, teachers, and school administrations: “We need joint efforts to implement policies based on values that recognize the uniqueness of every child. It is essential that, at the early and general education levels, opportunities and resources exist that support children`s full development”.

Commission member Rima Beradze emphasized the role of municipalities and the importance of local self-government involvement: "An inclusive environment is not created solely through infrastructure or programs - it is built through attitudes and mutual respect. Its success depends on how coordinated our actions are at all levels. Municipalities play one of the key roles in this process. I thank each municipality, kindergarten association, and educational resource center whose work is a crucial prerequisite for creating and developing an inclusive environment".

As stated by Zaza Lominadze, Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, funding for the promotion of inclusive education has been increased in the 2026 state budget.

Conference participants were also welcomed by the IDPs, Labour, Health and Social Affairs Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze and Public Defender Levan Ioseliani. Representatives of various executive government agencies delivered presentations at the conference. A panel discussion was held on the topic: Inclusive Education at the Preschool and General Education Levels – Achievements and Challenges.

Within the framework of the conference, an exhibition-sale organized by the LEPL State Care and Assistance Agency for Victims of Trafficking was held, featuring handcrafted items created by children with disabilities and special educational needs. The purpose of event was to promote the initiation of professional dialogue on strengthening inclusive education at both the early and preschool education levels and the general education level. The event aimed to identify challenges related to the timely identification of children’s needs and access to qualified specialists, analyze regional inequalities and systemic challenges, and develop relevant recommendations to address these issues.
