Kazakh airline Scat Airlines has operated its first direct flight from Shymkent to Tbilisi

Kazakh airline Scat Airlines has operated its inaugural direct flight from Shymkent to Tbilisi. According to the Georgian Airports Association, the airline will now operate 2 times a week, connecting Shymkent and Tbilisi.

The 1st flight from Shymkent to Tbilisi International Airport, and vice versa, carried 166 passengers.

The event celebrating the inaugural flight at Tbilisi International Airport was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, Director General of the Airports Association, Levan Moseshvili, General Manager of TAV Georgia, Tea Zakharadze, representatives from the Civil Aviation Agency and Scat Airlines.

“Shymkent is the 5th Kazakh route operated between Georgia and Kazakhstan this year. Currently, 3 airlines serve flights between the 2 countries: Air Astana and SCAT Airlines from Tbilisi International Airport, and FlyArystan from Kutaisi International Airport.

Passenger traffic between Georgia and Kazakhstan continues to grow annually. In the first 11 months, Georgian airports handled over 304,000 passengers, a 10% increase compared to last year.
