The planned changes in the higher education system will be discussed at the session today. The new reform envisages full funding of studies for students enrolled in state universities and a change in the format of studies in all higher education institutions.

The change will also apply to public schools, which means 11-year education and, if desired, the opening of special classes for the 12th year.

Deputy Chairperson of the parliamentary political group “People’s Power” Eka Sepashvili states that students will still be able to choose several directions.

“They will still be able to choose several directions and several specialties, it’s just that, let’s say, the law faculty will be only at the state university and such a distribution will be in different cities. However, at the same time, a student can choose the same law faculty and law specialty at another private university. There are no restrictions here”, - said Eka Sepashvili.
