Prime Minister of Georgia meets the Labor and Social Security Minister of Armenia

Georgia will provide one-time, free railway transit for Azerbaijani fuel destined for Armenia, said on Monday the Economy Ministry, responding to reports in Azerbaijani media about alleged tariff-related delays.

Following reports in Azerbaijani media suggesting that tariff barriers were hindering the rail delivery of fuel from Azerbaijan to Armenia, Imedi TV contacted the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development for clarification.

According to the ministry, on 5 December the Georgian Government received a request from partner countries to facilitate a one-time transit of fuel from Azerbaijan to Armenia through Georgian territory.

By the decision of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Georgian Railway was instructed to immediately carry out the transport free of charge.

“The official parties have been informed of this decision. Georgia has been and remains a strategic and reliable partner for both Armenia and Azerbaijan. We have always supported peace and cooperation in the region”, the Ministry said.
