The Health Care and Social Affairs Committee, the Parliamentary Political Group “People’s Power”, and the Interim Commission on Women and Children Affairs initiated the convocation of the discussion in Batumi on “Demographic Policy in Georgia”.

The participants discussed the existing demographic challenges in Georgia, the necessary measures to encourage birth rates, and the political steps that, given the current demographic situation, require legislative amendments and additional assessment.

During the working meeting, Zaza Lomidze, Chair of the Health Care and Social Affairs Committee, spoke about Georgia’s demographic policy and the legislation in this area.

The participants received information on state programs operating within the framework of demographic policy from Mikheil Sarjveladze, the IDPs, Labour, Health and Social Protection Minister.

A presentation was delivered on the progress, outcomes, and challenges of the “Diagnosis and Treatment of Infertility” program.

The demographic situation in Georgia was reviewed by Dimitri Khundadze, Chair of the political group “People’s Power”. The meeting also included discussions on improving the social conditions of families with children. As a result of the discussion, a package of recommendations was developed to support relevant agencies in strengthening and improving demographic policy.
