The Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, held a meeting with the Foreign Affairs Minister of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan.

As noted, the strong relations between the governments, parliaments and peoples of Georgia and Armenia were reflected last year in elevating their relations to a strategic level.

Shalva Papuashvili emphasized the positive dynamics of high-level visits, which confirm the intensive relations between the two countries.

Attention was drawn to active and productive inter-parliamentary cooperation - both between the Speakers and among the Committees and Friendship Groups.

The discourse addressed the ongoing developments in the region. Ararat Mirzoyan stated that the peace agreement initiated in Washington between Armenia and Azerbaijan has already yielded several practical results, and negotiations are underway regarding the final signing of the agreement. The positive dynamics in relations between Armenia and Turkey were also highlighted. It was noted that the tensions in the South Caucasus region have come to an end and a new era of opportunities is beginning, which will bring great benefits to the region.

The First Vice-Speaker, Chair of the Georgia-Armenia Friendship Group, Giorgi Volski, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, as well as members of the Friendship Group, Samvel Manukyan and Sumbat Kyureghyan, also participated in the meeting.
