Parliament of Georgia adopts the Draft Law on Equality between Men and Women

The Parliament adopted the Draft Law on Equality between Men and Women for the III reading and 81 votes.

The amendments establish the legal basis for the authorities of Abkhazia and Ajara ARs to create the Council on Women and Children.

According to the reporter, Chair of the Interim Commission on Women and Children, Mariam Lashkhi, the legal initiative facilitates equality between men and women and effective protection of children, as well as inter-agency cooperation.

The Draft Law is initiated and authored by: Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee, and Nino Tsilosani, the Vice-Speaker.
