Georgia Dream seeks only one thing from the EU - fair treatment toward Georgia and its people, along with respect for the country’s constitution and independence. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi, while talking about the restarting relations between Georgia and the EU.

“Much of today’s European bureaucracy has lost credibility. All their statements regarding Georgia are filled with falsehoods, based solely on lies, and bear no relation to reality. It is also alarming that attempts have been made several times to provoke revolutions, coups, and to overthrow the Government. Such actions are unacceptable.

When we discussed the transparency law, its necessity stemmed directly from these kinds of events. On one hand, we were told they are Georgia’s friends, but on the other, they supported state coups, revolutions, extremism, and violence. This is neither friendship nor partnership”, - said Kakha Kaladze.

Asked whether the ruling party seeks EU validation of parliamentary election results, he said that “elections are legitimised by the Georgian people”: “We have repeatedly stated that we are ready for friendship and partnership, but it cannot be one-sided. We demand only 1 thing - fair treatment of Georgia, its people, and respect for our constitution and independence. There is no question of election validation; elections are legitimised by the Georgian people. The majority of our population has given legitimacy to the Georgian Dream. From the EU, we seek only fair treatment toward our country, our people, and our state”.
