Mayor of Tbilisi accused Peter Fischer, the German Ambassador to the country, of being a central figure in instigating violent groups active in the capital, claiming that the unrest was externally imposed and funded.

“It weighs heavily on me to talk about this, and it truly isn’t pleasant, but one thing is an established fact - that the German Ambassador is part of those violent groups represented in the capital today and is the main instigator… The protests and disturbances in Tbilisi were driven by external forces, with foreign patrons orchestrating events through local representatives.

We have said it many times and will repeat it once more: everything we see on the capital"s streets is imposed and funded from outside.

They have their patrons - foreigners - and their representatives here in Georgia who are directly involved and managing these actions. It is a very grave and regrettable situation”, - said Kakha Kaladze.

The German Government has responded to questions submitted by the Alternative for Germany party regarding Peter Fischer. Berlin confirms that Fischer held a meeting with opposition representatives in Georgia, but declined to provide any concrete details about the encounter.
