Government of Georgia decree rules cash prizes be awarded to athletes for sporting achievements

By the Government of Georgia (GOG) Decree, athletes will receive monetary prizes for their achievements in various sports.

According to the applicable Government Decree, Vakhtang Lolua, a member of the Georgian national team in Greco-Roman wrestling, will receive 85 000 GEL for winning first place at the 2025 World Wrestling Championship. In addition, the athlete will receive an extra cash prize of 65 000 GEL.

The Government Decree, approved at the Executive Government Meeting today, also stipulates that Temur Samkharadze, a member of the Georgian national team in powerlifting wrestling, will receive a cash prize of 40 000 GEL for winning first place at the 2025 World Games.

Members of the Georgian national team in para-judo will receive a cash prize of 102 000 GEL and an additional cash prize of 98 000 GEL for the team"s first-place finish at the 2025 European Championship.

In basketball, members of the Georgian national team, along with coaches, medical and administrative staff, will receive a cash prize of 595 000 GEL and an additional cash prize of 2 405 000 GEL for the team’s successful performance in the final tournament of the 2025 European Championship.

The Georgian national futsal team will receive a cash prize of 500 000 GEL for qualifying for the final tournament of the 2026 European Futsal Championship.

The Government Decree is signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
