Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke about relations with the United States in the interview with Imedi TV. As Maka Botchorishvili noted, “if we observe the processes that have developed regarding the “MEGOBARI Act”, we must assume that no one there is interested in creating a basis for Georgia-US relations with documents of the “MEGOBARI Act” type.
“Work is underway at the working level, but the political field is empty. We are talking about messages from the US, we expect that a certain framework should be defined in relations with Georgia.
However, we can observe the developments that are taking place in the American legislative body, how the processes regarding the “MEGOBARI Act” have developed. We must assume that no one there is in favor of Georgia moving away from this vector and creating a basis for Georgia-US relations with documents of the “MEGOBARI Act” type”, - said the Minister.
She spoke about the actions of individual politicians and noted that what these people are doing is hostility towards their own country.
“We can evaluate the behavior of Georgian citizens and politicians. I would call this hostility towards one’s own country when you go and demand to record what was written in the “MEGOBARI Act”, against your own country.
And this not just about the Government? There is no other name for this than hostility when you pay money to harm your country. We have voiced our wishes. Our interests and offer are public, we want a strategic partnership with the US that will have substance. This requires a conversation between the parties”, - added Maka Botchorishvili.
