A country that does not take care of its roots will never create a worthy future. The opening of the monument to Erekle II in Tbilisi is another symbol that we respect and take care of our national identity, roots and history. The Prime Minister of Georgia made this statement during his speech at the opening ceremony of the monument to King Erekle II.

"Thanks to Erekle II, our nation has preserved its religious and cultural identity to this day. It was his wisdom that granted us this enduring legacy, and for that, we owe a special debt of gratitude to our revered king.

Today`s unveiling is a testament to that. Erekle II stands as a true symbol of patriotism, pragmatism, and love for our homeland, an example by which each of us should be guided.

Therefore, it was our duty and responsibility to pay our respects in the capital to Erekle II, our dearly loved king. The unveiling of this monument is a heartfelt expression of that respect.

It was designed by the famous Georgian sculptor Merab Merabishvili. I am proud to say that this monument will grace our city.

I would also like to extend my congratulations on the opening of renovated square and green space. Many remember how this area had lost its function. Now, it has been transformed into a place of rest and gathering for our fellow citizens, not only for residents of this district but for all of Tbilisi. I believe that this space will become one of the most cherished in the city.

This is what our country needs. We must nurture our roots. A nation that neglects its heritage can never forge a meaningful future. Our capital requires further beautification, greenery, and development, and today`s event is a testament to our care for the city. My heartfelt thanks go to Tbilisi`s Mayor, Kakha Kaladze.

Once again, I congratulate everyone on this occasion. The monument to Erekle II will stand as another emblem of our respect for and commitment to our national identity, roots, and history", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
