Opposition is absolutely desperate and weakened, and in such times they may start thinking about any kind of provocation - Prime Minister

Prime Minister of Georgia warned that the radical opposition`s current weakened state may push them toward provocations, urging all state agencies, including the State Security Service [SSSG], to remain particularly vigilant.

Speaking in response to a media`s question about the ongoing investigation into explosive substances reportedly brought into Georgia from Ukraine, he underlined the importance of thoroughly examining every detail of the case.

“It is already a very serious fact that a specific suspect, a figure in this case, is talking about Ukraine’s special services. Of course, this is an issue that the SSSG should be particularly interested in, and naturally, it will be. As for the possible connection to the internal political events unfolding in our country, including this announced so-called overthrow and so on, this is also an issue that the SSSG should be interested in.

You see that the opposition is absolutely desperate and weakened, and in such times they may start thinking about any kind of provocation. Therefore, all agencies, including the SSSG, must be particularly vigilant, and I am confident that they will follow this case to the end. Any such fact must be fully investigated, and we must establish who wants to bring unrest to our country and cause harm to it. Of course, we will not allow such things, and our response will be strict”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
