Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission [CEC], and Geka Geladze, Minister of Internal Affairs, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the purpose of ensuring the conduct of the 4 October 2025 municipal elections in a peaceful and secure environment.
The Memorandum envisages the establishment of additional forms of cooperation between the parties during the electoral period and the definition of an appropriate legal framework. It also provides for the organization of joint trainings and working meetings with the participation of representatives from the MIA and the CEC.
Within the framework of this cooperation, the parties shall, in accordance with Georgian legislation, exchange all necessary information and provide consultations to one another within the scope of their respective competences.
To ensure the security of the electoral process and to facilitate coordinated action, a Memorandum of Cooperation between the MIA and the CEC has, in recent years, been concluded prior to each election.
