The Prime Minister of Georgia responds to President Mikheil Kavelashvili’s letter addressed to US President Donald Trump.

“I fully share the pathos of the President’s letter. Our message is well-known: we want to relaunch the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States on a clean slate with a concrete guideline… Nothing could hinder this process if the “deep state” does not prevail.

As a society, we are also surprised by the passivity we see. Our strong desire is for this passivity to shift into another mode - an active mode - and accordingly to begin discussions on the renewal of our strategic partnership. We remain hopeful that the partnership will be reassessed. If the ‘deep state’ does not prevail, I believe nothing will stand in the way of resetting relations between Georgia and the US”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
