Mariam Kvrivishvili meets with Azerbaijan’s President

Georgian Minister of Economy held a meeting with Azerbaijan’s President. Ilham Aliyev congratulated Mariam Kvrivishvili on her appointment as minister and described her visit to Azerbaijan as a sign of close cooperation.

Expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality and congratulations, the Minister remarked that it was an honour to meet with the head of state.

She conveyed greetings from Georgian Prime Minister to Azerbaijan’s President. Aliyev recalled with satisfaction Irakli Kobakhidze’s first foreign visit to Azerbaijan in January, 2025, highlighting it as an example of the friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Georgia.

As Mariam Kvrivishvili said, Ilham Aliyev is a global leader and noted that he is warmly received as a friend in Georgia.

The discussions underscored that bilateral relations encompass a broad agenda across various sectors.

The parties highlighted the strategic importance of cooperation in energy and transportation, as well as joint projects, not only for Georgia and Azerbaijan but also for the wider region. They expressed hope that relations would deepen further in bilateral and multilateral formats, particularly in connectivity, energy, trade, and investment.

The meeting reaffirmed Azerbaijan as Georgia’s primary trading partner, emphasising significant potential for increasing trade turnover. The parties exchanged views on advancing joint projects across different economic sectors, underscoring the importance of strengthening cooperation for mutual benefit.
