Head of the State Security Service [SSS], Mamuka Mdinaradze, would assume the newly created position of the state minister for coordination of law enforcement agencies, alongside serving as Vice Prime Minister. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

As Irakli Kobakhidze noted, the creation of the new state minister role was aimed at strengthening coordination among law enforcement bodies.

“We want to share with the public information about an important personnel change within the executive branch system. First of all, I inform you that the structure of the government of Georgia will include the position of state minister for coordination of law enforcement agencies. This position will be held by Mamuka Mdinaradze, who will also assume the duties of Vice Prime Minister.

After being appointed as the head of the SSS, Mamuka Mdinaradze had to step away from political activities. From this new position, he will return to political activity, which will strengthen our political team. The introduction of the state minister position requires legislative amendments. The relevant draft law will be submitted by the government of Georgia to the Parliament by tomorrow. We would like to ask the Parliament of Georgia to adopt the draft law next week under an expedited procedure.

He achieved significant results; under his leadership, systemic reforms were implemented within the service, numerous important special operations were carried out, and the agency was very successful in combating crime during these months. The service was particularly effective in fighting corruption, and for all this, I would like to express my special gratitude to Mr. Mamuka [Mdinaradze]”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
