Three persons arrested for issuing fake tech inspection certificates for faulty vehicles

As a result of investigative actions and operational activities conducted by the Anti-Corruption Agency, 3 Georgian citizens have been arrested on charges of commercial bribery, manufacturing of fake official documents, and group commercial bribery and assistance in manufacturing fake official documents.

According to the State Security Service of Georgia, the investigation established that the defendants, through an employee of the technical inspection center LLC "Tech-2017" located in Marneuli, for the purpose of obtaining unlawful material benefit, systematically ensured the issuance of positive periodic inspection results for technically faulty vehicles owned by Georgian citizens, despite the fact that these transport vehicles did not meet the requirements established by law.

The detainees deliberately entered data inconsistent with reality into the reports, resulting in the issuance of positive technical inspection conclusions for faulty vehicles. In exchange for this unlawful action, the defendants systematically received money from citizens.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 221, Part 3; Article 362, Part 1; Article 25-221, Part 4, Subparagraph "a"; and Article 25-362, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The crime carries a punishment of up to 6 years of imprisonment.
