The response to the use of hate speech on social networks continues. Today, upon the motion of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the common courts reviewed several more administrative offenses. Among them, the Zugdidi District Court fined citizen Murtaz Rigvava GEL 2,000 for verbally abusing MP Ilia Injia.

Meanwhile, the Batumi Court reviewed the case of citizen Irakli Gobadze, who referred to opposition politician Grigol Gegelia with insulting words on a social network. The judge imposed a GEL 1,000 fine on Gobadze.

“Since June 1, more than 200 cases have been submitted to the common courts regarding protocols compiled by the Department for Combating Hate Speech. We believe that these cases and responses have had an appropriate preventive effect, as insulting comments and texts have clearly decreased in public and social spaces”, - said Mariam Kereselidze, Head of the Court Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
