Nauru’s cut of ties with so-called Abkhazia, South Ossetia upholds international law - Prime Minister

The decision by the Republic of Nauru to revoke diplomatic relations with the so-called Republic of Abkhazia and the so-called Republic of South Ossetia demonstrates once again that respect for and adherence to the norms of international law constitute the bedrock of healthy international relations. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

“On July 21, the Government of the Republic of Nauru decided to revoke diplomatic relations with the so-called Republic of Abkhazia and the so-called Republic of South Ossetia. This decision demonstrates once again that respect for and adherence to the norms of international law form the bedrock of healthy international relations. Georgia stands ready to establish formal diplomatic relations with the Republic of Nauru and to foster deeper cooperation.

I want to thank the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Maka Botchorishvili, and every diplomat working toward the implementation of a successful non-recognition policy”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
