Prime Minister of Georgia together with Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development and Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Zurab Pataradze visited the Batumi State Maritime Academy [BSMA] to inspect its upgraded educational and training infrastructure.

Irakli Kobakhidze and Mariam Kvrivishvili were briefed on the completed improvements by Rector Murtaz Devadze. The Academy has upgraded its navigation bridge, cargo handling and stability, and engine room training simulators, enabling students to receive practical training that meets modern international standards. A new fire safety and maritime survival training facility has also been established.

The Prime Minister underscored the strategic importance of the BSMA and noted that strengthening the institution will be one of the key components of education, designed and implemented by the Government of Georgia.

"The BSMA is developing a highly valuable resource for our economy. Our seafarers make a significant contribution to Georgia’s economic development, and we will continue to give special attention to this higher education institution in the future. Strengthening the Academy will be one of the most important components of our education reform", - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

He also reviewed the Academy`s planned future development projects. It was noted that the BSMA`s buildings will undergo comprehensive rehabilitation and its infrastructure will be modernized in line with contemporary standards.
