French aviation group Groupe ADP, one of the world’s largest operators of international airports, will invest approximately USD 150 million in the next phase of development of Tbilisi International Airport.

Under a new agreement signed by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development’s state-owned company United Airports of Georgia, Groupe ADP [owner of TAV Georgia, the operator of Tbilisi International Airport] will continue managing the airport for the next 5 years under updated terms agreed with the Government of Georgia.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Economy Mariam Kvrivishvili, Chairman and CEO of Groupe ADP Philippe Pascal, President of TAV Airports Serkan Kaptan, etc.

Georgia’s long-standing cooperation with the French state-owned Groupe ADP is based on high trust and a shared strategic vision, fully aligned with the country’s long-term interests in civil aviation development. The successful 20-year partnership between the state and TAV Georgia has laid the foundation for a new, expanded phase of cooperation aimed at the sustainable development of Tbilisi International Airport, strengthening its international competitiveness, and reinforcing Georgia’s position as a regional aviation hub.

As part of this partnership, Groupe ADP will make an unprecedented investment of around USD 150 million in the airport’s infrastructure between 2027 and 2031.

The agreement, signed by United Airports of Georgia CEO Levan Moseshvili and TAV Georgia General Manager Thea Zakharadze, defines key aspects of the airport’s infrastructure expansion and operational development.

It provides for continued operation under improved conditions until 2031, when a new international airport is expected to become operational.

The investment includes a large-scale expansion of the existing terminal, increasing its total area by approximately 50%.

Both arrival and departure zones will be upgraded, doubling the airport’s annual capacity from 5 million to at least 10 million passengers.

The number of aircraft stands will increase from 58 to 65, the apron area will be significantly expanded.

Under the agreement, United Airports of Georgia will receive an advance payment of USD 25 million, while annual revenue from Tbilisi International Airport is expected to triple compared to current levels. The airport operator will also support airline marketing programs, creating favorable conditions for the development of new routes and the attraction of international carriers.
