During her visit to the Republic of Serbia, Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, held a bilateral meeting with country’s Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade.

Mariam Kvrivishvili and Jagoda Lazarević explored vital issues concerning the economic partnership between the nations, focusing on priority sectors for bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as prospects for strengthening future relations in this sphere.

Special emphasis was placed on the mutual readiness to commence negotiations for a free trade agreement between Georgia and Serbia, alongside the importance of signing a joint declaration to formalise this intent.

It was noted during the discussions that the introduction of direct flights between Georgia and Serbia this year has significantly enhanced connectivity, serving as a substantial catalyst for growth in both tourism and business. Mariam Kvrivishvili also engaged in a detailed dialogue with her Serbian counterpart on Georgia’s strategic vision and plans, including the development of transport and logistics infrastructure and major ongoing projects across the country.

As part of her visit, Kvrivishvili and Lazarević will inaugurate the 2nd session of the Georgia-Serbia Joint Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, and also sign a joint statement to officially launch negotiations on a free trade agreement.
