The Prosecution Service of Georgia has brought charges against two individuals for the group embezzlement of property in large quantities, committed based on a prior conspiracy.
According to the investigation conducted by the Samtskhe-Javakheti Regional Prosecutor’s Office, defendants, who were responsible for the care and maintenance of cattle owned by a Dutch citizen, unlawfully disposed of 194 head of cattle, valued at GEL 298,170, embezzled the proceeds obtained from their sale.
Charges have been brought against both defendants - including one in absentia - under Article 182 §§ 2(a) and 3(b) of the Criminal Code of Georgia (embezzlement committed by a group in prior conspiracy and involving large amounts). The offense is punishable by seven to eleven years of imprisonment.
Within the timeframe established by law, the Prosecution Service will file a motion with the court seeking pre-trial detention as a measure of constraint.
