Employees of the Migration Department detained 33 foreign citizens as a result of a special immigration control operation

Within the framework of the fight against illegal migration, employees of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted a special immigration control operation.

Based on the information obtained, within the framework of the police activity, department employees inspected specific locations, aiming to identify foreign citizens who reside in Georgia without legal grounds.

As a result of complex operation, 33 foreign citizens have been detained. Among the detainees are citizens of India, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran, Kenya, Tunisia, Yemen, Egypt, Turkey, China, Morocco and Bangladesh. It was determined that the detainees violated the Law of Georgia “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons”.

Currently, the aforementioned individuals are being held in the Migration Department’s temporary accommodation center. Relevant procedures are ongoing deport them from the country.

The Migration Department conducts special immigration control measures regularly to ensure the effective enforcement of the Law of Georgia “On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons”.
