Relations between Georgia and Armenia are grounded in a long history of mutual respect and a strong friendship between our peoples. It is precisely for this reason that the strategic partnership established between our countries in 2024 is a wholly logical outcome of these deep-rooted ties, stated Maka Botchorishvili at a joint press conference following her meeting with her Armenian counterpart.

Speaking on bilateral relations, Maka Botchorishvili emphasized that political dialogue between Georgia and Armenia is conducted at the highest level, with visits reflecting a positive dynamic. She highlighted that the Declaration on the Strategic Partnership between Georgia and Armenia has elevated the already distinguished relations and cooperation between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.

"2025 has been a dynamic year in our bilateral relations. We can confidently say that the friendship between our peoples and the connections between our countries are fully reflected in the intensity of our political dialogue”, - stated Maka Botchorishvili.

During the meeting, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs discussed the situation in the region and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to address security challenges. In this context, they positively assessed the Armenia-Georgia-Azerbaijan trilateral meeting at the level of Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs, held in Georgia in April 2025.

According to Maka Botchorishvili, Georgia has consistently played a significant role in promoting stable and peaceful development in the region and will continue to contribute to strengthening regional cooperation.

“Georgia welcomes the peace agreement reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan on 8 August in Washington. This historic agreement represents a crucial step toward establishing sustainable peace in the South Caucasus and opens new opportunities for the long-term and stable development of the region”, - said Foreign Minister of Georgia.

During the meeting, attention was given to the trade and economic relations between Georgia and Armenia, as well as the region’s transit potential. It was noted with satisfaction that Armenia ranks among Georgia’s top ten trading partners and within the top three countries in terms of tourism. The parties also discussed cooperation in transport, tourism, culture, education, and other sectors. It is noteworthy that this marks the second official visit of the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, to Georgia. During the visit, he will meet with the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili. The Armenian Foreign Minister will lay a wreath at the Memorial of Heroes Fallen for the Unity of Georgia.
