Today, the second meeting was held with the parents of children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. As a result, we agreed that a working group involving representatives of the Ministry of Health and parents will be established, which will actively work on the issue of providing specific medications for the children. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia made at the briefing in the Government Administration.

“The final decision on the procurement of specific medications will be made considering various factors, including the terms offered by pharmaceutical companies. A special working group will be established, the working process will begin, and we will ensure parents are kept informed of our progress on an ongoing basis.

We have agreed on specific medications, which we are not naming at this moment for specific reasons; however, the full circle of parents will have appropriate information regarding this. I would like to thank each parent who participated in the meeting, as well as all parents, for their constructive attitude. I would also like to thank the Minister of Health of Georgia and the relevant employees of the Ministry for their in-depth handling of the issue. We express hope that today’s decision will create the best foundation for protecting and realizing the best interests of the children”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
