According to the Roads Department, rehabilitation works on the km37-km57 section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars international highway are actively underway. At this stage, asphalt paving works are being carried out.
Under the project, the 20 km section is undergoing full rehabilitation, which will be implemented in phases. An asphalt-concrete pavement will be laid on the roadway, a new drainage system and upper and lower retaining walls will be installed, and 8 existing bridges on the section will be rehabilitated. Additionally, the project includes appropriate preventive measures in the landslide-prone area. These works will fully resolve the existing problems, making travel safe and comfortable.
The project is divided into 2 lots, and its total cost is up to 70 million GEL. The works are fully funded by the state budget.
