Traders near the Marjanishvili metro station will have the opportunity to continue their activities in the shopping spaces - Kaladze

Traders near the Marjanishvili metro station will have the opportunity to continue their activities in the shopping spaces. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.

"As you know, street trading is prohibited. We have also received numerous requests, letters and telephone calls from residents asking us to restore order to the area outside the entrance to Marjanishvili Metro Station, as people were unable to move around freely, to say nothing of the unsanitary conditions and the damage to the appearance of this historic part of the city.

We care about the welfare of these traders and understand their circumstances very well. We have many healthcare, social assistance and economic programmes to support those who need help the most. I also understand the situation of the people who were trading near Marjanishvili Metro Station. Believe me, no one wants their families to be left without an income.

Accordingly, alongside the enforcement measures, we had already begun looking for trading spaces where these people could continue their activities. Such spaces have now been identified at "Kalakis Guli" and "Tergi". Those who traded outside Marjanishvili Metro Station can continue their activities at these locations", - said kakha Kaladze.
