We reiterated our desire to restore the strategic partnership with the US at the meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires Courtney Austrian. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.

He confirmed that the meeting with the US diplomat focused squarely on avenues to restore full bilateral cooperation.

“Our position is clear: we want to restore our strategic partnership with the US.

As you know, in the period between the election and the inauguration, the previous administration suspended the strategic partnership with Georgia, a deeply heavy-handed move that was merely a continuation of the harsh policy line we witnessed under that administration.

You will recall how the former ambassador blatantly misrepresented facts, and how officials from that administration launched attacks against our country and the Georgian people, culminating in the suspension of our strategic partnership. In our meeting with Ms Chargé d’Affaires, we reiterated our firm desire to rebuild this strategic partnership. That remains our primary objective, and our discussion centered precisely on achieving that goal”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
