Decisions regarding gas tariffs fall strictly under the jurisdiction of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission [GNERC]. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.
As he noted, the executive branch must respect the regulator’s constitutional independence.
“GNERC makes decisions regarding natural gas tariffs, and we are all bound to await their ruling; it is not within our prerogative. While we hold consultations with GNERC, the ultimate determination lies solely with them. Consequently, we must await their official decision. The constitution explicitly establishes GNERC’s mandate, and I do not have the authority to make announcements on their behalf”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
