A special commission is being formed in the Parliament to work on price regulation. The draft resolution will be submitted to the Bureau. The session is starting right now.

"We aim to thoroughly examine the underlying business processes. As you may be aware, research indicates that prices for essential consumer goods and food in Georgia are significantly higher than in comparable countries. We want to understand what drives these steep price increases. The causes could include elevated operating costs, high capital expenses, or disproportionately high profit margins. There are specific mechanisms, if utilised correctly that can optimise these processes.

Additionally, enhancing competition could influence price stability and foster a more dynamic market. Ultimately, proper implementation of these measures should lead to more efficient business operations, which in turn could help reduce prices for essential goods.

The same approach applies to medicines. We will explore the factors behind price rises and, with careful analysis and collaboration with businesses and experts, aim to bring prices down.
