Metallurgical Plant - Georgia Metal LLC - is a true example of successful Georgian investment, ready to compete not only in local but also in international markets - Kobakhidze

The metallurgical plant - Georgia Metal LLC - is a true example of a successful Georgian investment, stated Prime Minister of Georgia during his address at the inauguration ceremony of the Georgia Metal plant in Zestaponi.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, the scale of the plant is impressive and with an annual production capacity of 400 000 tons of rebar, it stands as one of the largest industrial facilities in the country.

“The strategic goal of the company is even more ambitious: upon the completion of the next stage-the construction of a steel-smelting workshop-the plant will be able to produce its own raw materials and fully meet domestic demand for rebar, which is of great importance. This will not only eliminate the need for imports, but also create a solid foundation for Georgian products to enter export markets, thereby further strengthening the economic sovereignty of our country”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.

He emphasized that it is particularly significant that 90% of over 400 employees at the plant are locals, and following expansion, the number of employees will increase to around 1000.

The Prime Minister of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the founders, Avtandil Kochadze and Zurab Gibradze, for implementing the project and demonstrating strong social responsibility. He also thanked the financial partner of the project -Bank of Georgia JSC-and its CEO, Archil Gachechiladze: “The cornerstone of our economic policy is precisely to promote the development of such enterprises-modern, export-oriented production facilities based on national capital. These types of projects play a vital role in the continued development of our economy. Over the past four years, we have maintained high economic growth, which creates the best foundation for further supporting business and industrial production, something that is particularly important for our country”.

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, also addressed the guests of the inauguration ceremony of the metallurgical plant.

The Head of Government of Georgia toured the newly-inaugurated facility and received information on the production process directly from the founders of the plant. The event was attended by representatives of the executive, legislative and local authorities of the country, as well as members of the business community.
