Turkey temporarily suspends lemon exports

Turkey will suspend lemon exports from today, April 8, due to the need to regulate domestic demand and recent frosts in areas where citrus fruits are mainly harvested.

"In coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Ministry of Trade has decided to temporarily stop the export of lemons from April 8 in light of the recent frosts and cold snap in a number of regions and to maintain a balance of supply and demand in the domestic market", - reads the information, posted on the social network X by the Ministry of Trade.

It is noted that the decision was made "in order to protect and increase domestic production, as well as to prevent speculative price increases amid frosts in the provinces of Mersin, Adana and Hatay in the south of the country".
