The official visit of the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze and the committee delegation to the Kingdom of Spain is ongoing.
The delegation is headed by the Chair of the Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze. Its members include the Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Levan Makhashvili, and the Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation held a meeting with the President of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Pilar Milagros Rojo Noguera, as well as with members of the committee. The discussions focused on Georgia–Spain relations, the importance of enhancing interparliamentary cooperation, and the need to intensify bilateral visits.
Key topics included security, conflicts, and ongoing wars in the region. Samkharadze emphasized the situation in Georgia`s occupied regions, threats emanating from the Russian Federation, regional security challenges, and their impact on national security.
The delegation members also addressed Georgia–EU relations and provided information on existing challenges within this framework. The Georgian side underscored the Government’s readiness to engage in open dialogue with EU representatives on all relevant issues. The Head of the delegation extended an invitation to the Spanish counterparts to pay an official visit to Georgia.
