Defence Minister of Armenia visits Georgia

Minister of Defence of the Republic of Armenia pays an official visit to Georgia. Georgian counterpart, Vice-Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Chikovani hosts Suren Papikyan.

Following the official welcoming ceremony at MoD, the Ministers and the members of the delegation held bilateral meeting, where they discussed bilateral and regional cooperation issues in defence sphere. Irakli Chikovani expressed gratitude to the Armenian part for supporting Georgia`s territorial integrity and sovereignty and confirmed Georgia`s support to Armenia`s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

At the meeting the parties focused on the good-neighborly, firm ties between the two countries and the positive dynamics of bilateral cooperation in the defence field. Existing security environment in the region and challenges to this respect were one of the main topics of the meeting. Ministers of Georgia and Armenia once more expressed their readiness to ensure and strengthen peace.

The counterparts discussed the directions envisaged under the bilateral cooperation plan 2026, which is more comprehensive than in previous years.

Following the end of the meeting, Defence Minister of Armenia honored the memory of military fallen in the combat activities for Georgia`s territorial integrity.

Within the visit to Georgia, Suren Papikyan views Maro Makashvili Rehabilitation Center of Military in Tserovani.
