The delegation of the Parliament of Georgia has concluded the meetings at the United States Congress.

Today, members of the delegation met with five members of Congress, most of whom represent the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

According to the head of the Georgian parliamentary delegation, Nikoloz Samkharadze, the main topics discussed during the meetings included Georgian-American relations, security issues, developments in the region, and the development of the Middle Corridor.

The final meeting in Congress was held with Keith Self, Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Europe. Throughout the day, the delegation also held meetings with Randy Fine, Mike Turner, Ryan Zinke, and Anna Paulina Luna.

“As part of the meetings, the main focus of discussion was Georgian-American relations, the improvement of these relations, and moving them to a new stage. We reviewed a wide range of issues, primarily security matters, developments in our region, and the issue of occupation. We also received information from members of Congress regarding the developments in Iran and their assessment of the current situation”, - said Nikoloz Samkharadze.

According to him, the members of Congress also expressed interest in the development of the Middle Corridor and Georgia’s role within it: “The meetings involved a very engaging dialogue. We asked members of Congress to carefully review certain legislative initiatives introduced by some congressmen that clearly have an anti-Georgian character, in order to ensure that they do not harm the positive dynamics currently emerging in our bilateral relations”.
