The Standing Audit Group at the Budget and Finance Committee, tasked to scrutinise the State Audit Office reports, held a hearing of the SAO reports.

The diversion-mediation program"s efficient audit report was introduced by the leading auditor of the Defense, Public Order and Security Audit Department, Megi Kodoshvili.

The audit covered 2023-2024 and four recommendations have been consequently issued.

“The diversion and mediation program offers juveniles aged 18-21 the opportunity to avoid conviction and penalty in exchange for certain terms. This program provides a pathway to a law-abiding life and a successful future. It represents a significant step forward in adhering to international standards and approximating a justice system that is child-oriented”, - she reported.

Giorgi Dgebuadze, Deputy Justice Minister, briefed MPs on the issued recommendations. The protection of the best interests of juveniles is a priority for the Ministry, he noted.

The head auditor of the Social Audit Department, Mariam Cholokava introduced the Special Purpose Financial Statements of the Human Capital Program audit report.

As per the reporter, the program aims at ensuring higher efficiency and inclusiveness of the human capital development systems and services; it covers the education, healthcare and social protection sectors.

According to her, the audit covered 2024 and no recommendations have been issued: “An unmodified opinion has been made as a result of the audit, implying that the financial statements, given all essential reportings, have been developed in accordance with the basic principles of financial reporting”.
