The First Deputy Chairman of the Georgian Dream faction in Parliament responds to the policy of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). His comments came after Elon Musk’s claim that USAID was not just an apple with a few worms, but rather a festering ball of worms shaped like an apple.

“When the current administration of the United States itself exposes one of its major organisations, USAID, as a criminal organisation and provides numerous facts and evidence about how USAID has caused harm in different countries, that says it all… The reaction of radical opposition and well-funded NGOs was also telling”, - said Levan Machavariani.

He referred to a statement by the US Secretary of State, claiming that only about 8% of USAID’s budget was spent on its officially declared activities, while the remaining 92% funded activities unrelated to its mandate.
