It is essential to ensure that farmers in Georgia have the opportunity to create products in demand on international markets alongside traditional agricultural production – Songulashvili

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, visited LTD "Timeo", a snail processing farm in Mtskheta Municipality, where he was briefed on the company`s operations.

LTD "Timeo" produces snail meat and snail shells. The company exports its products to France. The enterprise employs between 250 and 300 people.

"It is essential to ensure that farmers in Georgia have the opportunity to create products that are in demand on international markets alongside traditional agricultural production. Snail meat has strong export potential, while processing the shells further increases the economic value of the production. Our goal is to create new opportunities for this type of production across the regions and further diversify Georgia`s agricultural sector to support the establishment of more modern and competitive enterprises capable of securing a foothold in the domestic market while also accessing international markets", - said David Songulashvili.

The Deputy Minister, Lasha Avaliani; the Director of the Rural Development Agency, Zurab Gozalishvili; the Mayor of Mtskheta Municipality, Gogi Abuashvili; and the Chair of the Mtskheta Municipality Council, Giorgi Eloshvili, accompanied the Minister.
