Energy is a particularly important sector for the Georgian economy, process of writing off fines for companies will be transparent and fair - Kvrivishvili

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development held a meeting with representatives of the energy sector to discuss new approaches to supporting investment projects.

Mariam Kvrivishvili focused on the needs of projects that are critical to the development of the energy sector and on the role of the state in their implementation process.

“The Ministry is actively working to strengthen cooperation within the energy sector and to activate instruments that would facilitate the implementation of large-scale and complex projects. We have launched active efforts to present the sector, by the beginning of next year, with the state’s position on how it can support large and strategically important projects for the development of the energy sector through differentiated approaches. This support may be reflected in various instruments”, - explained the Minister.

As she added, future plans for the energy sector were also discussed: “The Government intends to integrate the energy sector more closely into existing state programs, including Enterprise Georgia… The state initiatives will include 4 main components: launching a new phase of cooperation with investors based on the waiver of penalties, clear planning of quotas, defining a regulatory framework where necessary, and creating tailored support mechanisms for large-scale projects.

The primary goal of our Ministry is to ensure that energy projects are commissioned as quickly as possible, enabling the country to reduce its dependence on energy imports and achieve full self-sufficiency in electricity supply”, - concluded Mariam Kvrivishvili.
