I would like to clarify that Mr. Irakli didn`t testify against anyone - Irakli Garibashvili`s lawyer

I would like to clarify that Mr. Irakli [Garibashvili] did not testify against anyone. Such a statement made today the lawyer of the former Prime Minister.

"What you heard at the briefing at the Prosecutor`s Office are the facts of the case. We will comment on the remaining issues that interest you after the consideration of the preventive measures. The defence`s position is that Mr Irakli Garibashvili pleads guilty. He has the right to speak; whether he will use it or not is up to him. In this regard, we will consult again. We are a group of lawyers; our colleagues will agree on the appropriate position among themselves and make a statement. I am limited in making any other comments at this stage… Mr Irakli did not give any testimony. Issues of this type are the prerogative of the investigation", - said Amiran Giguashvili.

The trial concerning the case against Irakli Garibashvili, which focused on the imposition of a preventive measure, recently concluded. The Tbilisi City Court has ordered Garibashvili to pay a bail of GEL 1 million as a preventive measure in connection with allegations of money laundering involving a particularly large sum of illegal income.

The court granted the prosecutor`s motion in full. Former Prime Minister is required to pay the specified amount within 30 days.

Irakli Garibashvili chose not to comment during the hearing. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for 16 December.
