As a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted at different times, officers of Patrol Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tbilisi Police, Imereti Police, Kakheti Police and Shida Kartli Police Departments seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi and regions of the country - 9 people were arrested.

The following persons were detained for the illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition: M.L., born in 1969; D.Gh., born in 1997; J.K., born in 1997; V.B., born in 1984; G.G., born in 1961. Also, 4 previously convicted persons - R.K., born in 1995; P.Gh., born in 1970; A.B., born in 1976, and B.J., born in 1972.

The committed crime envisions the imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years.

As a result of personal search of the defendants, vehicles, and residential buildings, law enforcement officers seized various types of firearms as evidence, including automatic firearms, revolvers and pistols, cartridges, and magazines.

An investigation into the facts of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition is underway under Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
