Shida Kartli police seized up to 2 kg of “Methadone” and up to half a kg of “Alpha PVP” - 3 people were arrested

As a result of complex operational measures and investigative actions, officers of Shida Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs [MIA] arrested 3 individuals, including two foreign citizens, on charges of illegal purchase and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs, facilitating their sale, and illegally importing them into Georgia. Up to 2 kilograms of “Methadone” and up to half a kilogram of “Alpha PVP” were seized.

The committed crime envisions 20 years or life imprisonment.

The Officers of Gori Police Division of Shida Kartli Police Department have arrested I.S., a previously convicted person, born in 1985, on charges of drug offenses. During his personal search, law enforcement officers seized up to half a kilogram of the narcotic drug Alpha - PVP. During the investigation, it became known that, other persons involved in the criminal scheme were planning to deliver narcotics by truck for further sale to him. Since I.S. was detained as the accused and it was not possible to contact him for a certain period of time, he was replaced by persons unknown to the investigation with another person to whom the imported narcotics were to be handed over.

As a result of the complex operational measures and investigative actions, the persons involved in the criminal scheme were identified in the shortest period of time, as a result of which the Russian citizen, A.T., born in 1984, and the Azerbaijani citizen, K.M., born in 2003, were detained by law enforcement officers as the accused persons.

It was established that the accused A.T. imported up to 2 kilograms of the drug “Methadone” into Georgia by means of a truck and handed it over to Azerbaijani citizen K.M. for further sale.

During a search of the vehicle operated by K.M., law enforcement officers seized up to 2 kg of the “Methadone” drug in 2 packages as evidence. The drug was stored in a hidden compartment in a metal object placed in the trunk of car.

The MIA intensively continues its uncompromising fight against drug-related crime throughout the country. Law enforcement officers are actively carrying out complex measures to combat this category of crime. The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 260 (3), and 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
