The Prosecutor`s Office of Georgia has charged Elene Khoshtaria, leader of the "Droa" party, with intentional damage to property, following an investigation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"On September 14, Elene Khoshtaria damaged 3 banners placed at the election headquarters of the Georgian Dream in Tbilisi, causing property damage estimated at GEL 570.
Law enforcement officers detained her on September 15. She has been charged under Part 1 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which covers damage to another person`s property resulting in significant loss and carries a sentence of one to five years in prison.
The Prosecutor`s Office will appeal to the court for the application of a preventive measure within the timeframe established by law", - reads the statement.
