Lasha Darsalia participates in the Ministerial Segment of the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia, participated in the Ministerial Segment of the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), where he addressed the participants.

In his statement, Lasha Darsalia emphasized the importance of global cooperation and effective multilateralism in advancing the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He reviewed the measures undertaken by the Government of Georgia and the progress achieved in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. He also underscored the significance of the United Nations Public Service Forum, hosted by Georgia in 2026.

The Deputy Minister drew attention to the consequences of Russia’s illegal occupation of Georgia`s Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, as well as to the grave humanitarian situation in the occupied territories.

On 14 July, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs participated in the informal ministerial meeting convened within the framework of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the discussion entitled "Ministerial Roundtable - Making Multilateralism Fit for the Future", Lasha Darsalia underscored the importance of United Nations reform and highlighted the role of multilateralism in conflict prevention and in the maintenance of international peace and security. During the visit, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs held meetings with the President of the UN General Assembly (PGA) for the 81st session, Khalilur Rahman and the Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Mohamed Khaled Khiari.

The meetings focused on issues of priority to Georgia within the context of the General Assembly, as well as prospects for further strengthening cooperation. The parties also discussed the outcomes of the latest round of the Geneva International Discussions, Georgia`s resolutions at the UN and issues related to the conflict.
