David Songulashvili hosts poultry farmers and exporters

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, met with poultry farmers and exporters to discuss the current state of the sector.

During the meeting, the Minister introduced an initiative to establish a Sectoral Council for the Poultry Industry, aiming to strengthen cooperation between the government and industry stakeholders.

"Agricultural development remains one of the key priorities for the Government. To ensure the effective functioning of the poultry sector and address its needs, we have decided to establish a Sectoral Council.

It is essential to maintain ongoing dialogue with representatives of the sector to identify the measures and mechanisms needed to increase production, improve quality, and enhance the competitiveness of domestic poultry products", - said David Songulashvili.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the key challenges facing the poultry industry, as well as opportunities for its sustainable growth and long-term development. The Council's meetings will be held monthly, under the oversight of the Deputy Ministers, with the Minister chairing on a quarterly basis. This format will foster active engagement with industry stakeholders, ensure greater consideration of farmers` interests, and support the effective planning and implementation of initiatives aimed at advancing the development of the sector.

The Deputies of the Minister, Lasha Dolidze and Lasha Avaliani, as well as senior officials from the Ministry and its relevant agencies, attended the meeting.
